Ready to feel the sand in your toes? Me too. Back in the early 1900s this would have meant a lot of full body suits, and silly looks. Thankfully, men’s beachwear has evolved to accentuate our best features while remaining remarkably comfortable. Here’s what to wear to the beach this summer:
The sun’s out. Bodies are sweating are your getting ready to dive into the waves. There are a lot of stripes in this one — just don’t wear them all at once.
I love this henley. Dark blue and wheat are great colors and the offset stripes or just right. Wear the henley with the color block shorts, or the blue chinos from NIGHT. The faded red shirt is everything a summer tshirt should be: colorful, comfortable and sun-bleached.
Color blocked or striped. And yes, it’s advanced, but sometimes blue does go with black.
Dark with a flat waist band, and just the right amount of interest.
Rainbows last forever and this light leather goes with almost anything. You’ve been wanting to wear sandals all winter; free your toes.
Ray-Ban Aviators – are a classic shape, and these are touched with gold and a tortoise shell rim for just the right luxe touch.
Sunscreen – The best way to prevent the look of aging skin is with an SPF greater than 15. Start now, 40+ year old you will be grateful.
Beach Towel – You’ll want somewhere to lay your head – after surfing or volleyball or whatever…
You’ve been lounging by the pool and ocean all day. Go get into something fun. Seize the night.
Going somewhere nice? This cotton/linen blazer from Uniqlo will cover the jacket requirement. But, if you’re just feeling a little chill from the evening breeze, this natural sweater adds just enough protection without being too warm.
Casual, colorful chinos or breezy linen. The chinos will look a trendier and younger, and the linen will give a more sophisticated and nautical look.
Desert boots work year round in all environments and the socks will add a bit of geometric fun. Plus, if you want for a romantic walk the beach, you can always take them off.
Have a beach trip planned this summer? Where are you going, and what will you wear?
