April Showers bring May flowers.
Hopefully those May flowers are coming because we’re definitely getting the showers in Atlanta. Raincoats vs. umbrellas; I’ll give you the benefits and tradeoffs for each. Here is what you need to keep the rain off:
- Keeps the rain out
- Extra Layer
- Walk alone
The key to good raincoat is water protection, but not necessarily added warmth. As the weather gets warmer, you’ll want to stay dry without sweating out. And as it cools back off again, you can add a fleece or sweater underneath for warmth.
- Someone on your arm
- Keeps the rain off
- Hands full
Feeling like a gentleman? Umbrellas are a good excuse to walk a lady to her car. You’ll still have to carry it around, but at least with auto-open and auto-close, you’ll only need one hand to use it. Raincoats are smart, but an umbrella lets you be a gentleman and stay dry yourself.
My suggestion? Combine all three. Wear the rain coat, stow the umbrella in your backpack or car, and get the app on your phone. How do you keep dry?
