In America, we have a habit of wearing athletic shoes (trainers) when we want to be casual. Here are 6 ways to do casual well, but don’t worry… I won’t forget the trainers.
Checklist – The 3 You Need:
- 1x Sneakers
- 1x Sandals
- 1x Trainers
Trendy: Colored Soles
Like the casual look, but want to take it up a notch? It’s color time.
These started getting popular a couple years, so it’s not a new trend. If you want to have some fun this summer, go for white.
Classic: Penny Loafers
Penny’s don’t have to be dress shoes. Wear them barefoot this summer with some foot powder and you will dramatically improve your summer presentation. I hear date night coming.
Trendy: Driving Loafers
Like to race? These are for you. These are classy enough to wear with cotton slacks, but not so much that you can’t pair them with jeans. Plus, they make that Honda just feel faster.
Classic: Boat Shoes
I’m on a boat. Well, not right now, but I might be in the coming months. Luckily, you can wear boat shoes without needing to set foot on deck. A classic prep look, and they handle sockless feet like a charm.
Wear with: Chino Short, a fit polo, and a colorful windbreaker.
Versatility. These will be the most versitile shoes you own. You can wear them with jeans and suits (if you want that casual cool look). Get a pair, and wear them out.
Wear with: Anything
Summer’s coming, and all men must be ready. When it’s hot out, and the sun is shining, let sandals carry you through the days. With mosquitoes and other summer bugs, you’ll want more coverage for the evenings. The Rainbows (flip-flops) are a great option for the beach and the pool. Pick the Juil sandals for a casual lunch date or two.
Wear with: Chino shorts and a linen button down shirt
Athletic Shoes (Trainers)
Athletic shoes can be worn in casual environments – streetwear photography has proven this. But, if you’re new to this, it’s usually a better bet to wear one of the other options above. Then again, everyone needs to workout, so don’t overlook your footwear. Get the support you need, and don’t screw up your street shoes.
Wear with: Gym Clothes
What did I get right? What did I miss? What weekend wear do you work with?
